Huijun Yang is a Molecular Biologist with the Golden Nematode Research Program at the Robert W. Holley Center for Agriculture, USDA ARS, Ithaca, New York.  He joined the GLOBAL project in January 2017 to work on testing Globodera rostochiensis  Ro1 and Ro2 resistance for various potato breeding programs in the U.S. He is also carrying out screening for novel potato cyst nematode resistance gene(s) from wild potato species for breeding potato varieties with broad spectrum cyst nematode resistance.

Huijun obtained a BS in Microbiology from the Wuhan University in China in 1994, a MS in Microbiology from the Huazhong Agricultural University in 1997, and a PhD in Plant Molecular Genetics from Shanghai Institute for Plant Physiology and Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001.  His previous research experience covered plant molecular biology, plant physiology, and plant pathology.
